A tailored approach for your dog, starts with a few simple steps:
My services offer a structured, bespoke approach for each dog. While the basics are the same for each consult, my thorough assessments enable me to identify individual causes of unwanted behaviour and build a treatment plan specifically tailored to every dog. I discuss short and long term goals with owners, seek to understand what is required from a consult and support and mentor owners through behavioural treatment.
Initial Contact
We begin with a phone call to understand your concerns, followed by the completion of a client questionnaire.
Throughout the entire process, I am continually asking questions to build up an accurate picture of every dog.
Consultation
Home visits of approximately 2 hours for the consult consist of assessment, information gathering, initial advice, and some training demonstrations.
During the consult, I will spend time observing your dog, noting behavioural patterns, reading body language, and beginning to formulate a plan.
Behaviour Plan
After the consult owners receive a detailed written assessment of their dog together with a structured treatment plan.
After The Consult
Owners will receive plenty of ongoing support following the consult, including opportunities for follow up visits to keep both owner and dog on track.
Video or Phone Call Consults
These consults are available offering a more affordable option for clients. This is dependent upon suitability for a dogs presentation and complexity.

Understanding & Addressing Canine Behavioural Issues
Behaviourist or Trainer?
When we train our dogs, we teach new behaviours, such as a sit or a recall. Behaviour work addresses not just unwanted behaviours but the underlying moods and emotions that drive poor behaviours.
Thorough assessments enable me to work with owners, understand how issues have developed and then devise bespoke treatment plans for owners to follow, all fully supported and monitored by me.
Whether your dog is struggling with a single issue or a range of significant multiple problems, I provide a calm, experienced approach to support both owner and dog.
Common behavioural issues that I am asked to help with include:
Anxiety-related behaviours, including aggression towards other dogs and people.
Reactive behaviours, especially dog-to-dog.
Fear-based behaviours.
Resource guarding
Separation anxiety and alone issues
Noise reactivity
Compulsive behaviours
Hyperactive behaviour

My Approach To Behaviour Change
While dogs present with outward symptoms, behavioural work always focuses on the underlying cause, mood, emotion, drive and physical health. This means that every dog is an individual with treatment plans bespoke and tailored specifically to both the dog's and the owners' needs. Working collaboratively with every owner is key to success, and owners will be supported throughout treatment, focusing on specific areas and building trust, knowledge and strong bonds with their dog.
How We Work Together
Behavioural Work Peeling the layers back.
'resilience, confidence and contentment'
I approach every dog with compassion, care and determination to deliver the very best treatment I can. Changing behaviour can take time; it’s likely to be hard work, but I will support you through the whole process. The consultation does not just look at the current behavioural problems; I also offer insight and solutions for long-term health and happiness, ensuring that your dog develops resilience, confidence and a good mood throughout their life.
Dogs are not just a single problem; they are complex beings influenced and shaped by environment, genetics, physical health and learning experience.
There can be many factors that contribute to poor behaviour. Training and experience allow me to identify these factors and diagnose causes, which then allows me to devise effective training plans.
The work I do helps owners develop the skills necessary to lead confidently, communicate effectively, and ‘think dog’.
My work is holistic-based, considering physical health as well as mood and emotions.
Take the first step: Telephone for initial contact (I love talking dogs!)

Initial contact and client questionnaire: A deep dive into your dog's behaviour, history, and health.
Step 1
Consultations either at home or over a telephone/Zoom call.
Step 2
A behavioural report, including an assessment allowing owners to understand their dog and a bespoke roadmap and detailed treatment plan.
Step 3
Ongoing professional support as owners work through their plan.
Step 4

‘She is doing really well, people are commenting on her development, even the neighbours don’t hear her now.’
When creating a behaviour plan, I always consider a dog’s breed traits, natural instincts, and individual needs. A holistic approach to behaviour and welfare means understanding what motivates each dog, what they were originally bred for, and how this influences their behaviour, emotions, and wellbeing.
I work with all breed groups, including:
Molosser/Bull breeds:
Mastiffs, American Bulldogs, Bull breed crosses
Gundog Breeds:
Labradors, Vizslas, Spaniels
Sighthound Breeds:
Greyhounds, Salukis, Whippets
Scent Hound Breeds:
Dachshunds, Beagles, Basset Hounds
Protection Breeds:
Rottweilers, Dobermanns
Herding Breeds:
Border Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs
Toy Breeds:
Chihuahuas, Bichon Frisés
How Does This Help?
Understanding what a dog needs to feel fulfilled, content, and secure is an essential part of every behaviour plan. Alongside physical health and welfare, I consider exercise needs, natural drives, motivations, and breed-specific behaviours to provide practical, tailored support for both the dog and the owner.
This approach also applies to crossbreeds. Every consultation considers the combination of breeds within a dog and how those traits may influence behaviour.
For example:
Bull Lurchers
Bull Lurchers are typically a mix of sighthound and bull breed traits, often combining speed, drive, determination, and sensitivity.

Cockapoos
Cockapoos combine the intelligence and working instincts of both the Poodle and Cocker Spaniel.
Areas of Special Interest
While I work with all breeds and crossbreeds, I have particular experience and interest in the hound group, especially sight hounds, lurchers, and longdogs. I also work extensively with Dachshunds, Cockapoos, Poodle crosses, and Terriers.
Rescued & Rehomed Dogs
With a background working within a large rescue charity, I have many decades of experience with rescue dogs.
Adopting a dog who has come through rescue, either via a charity or organisation or through private rehoming, can be extremely rewarding on one hand and difficult on the other. Owners can find themselves unprepared.
Having worked for a large dog charity during the early days of my career, I am well placed to understand the challenges faced by both dog and owner.
