Code of conduct

At Canine Care Behaviour, I strive to provide a humane, reward centred methodology to build trust and respect between client and their dog. As such I will always strive to ensure that I meet the high standards that my clients and their dogs expect from their behaviourist.

1. I will do no harm

2. I will combine positive reinforcement training techniques, together with an understanding of natural dog behaviour to educate owners.

3. I will use methods that elicit and reinforce good behaviours, while seeking to inhibit or discourage unwanted or dangerous behaviours by using acceptable and scientific methods.

4. I will not use techniques that harm or scare the dog.

5. My behavioural modification programs will be tailored individually to each dog and will take into account the physical and psychological well being of the client.

6. I will conduct myself honestly and compassionately and will consider the health and welfare of both client and their dog.

7. I shall respect the independence and views of other behavioural practitioners and their methods and opinions unless their methods may be considered abuse.

8. I shall seek to keep myself informed of new theories and training methods in the field of canine behavioural welfare and training. Considering those that may be of benefit to my clients and their dog.

9. I will seek to acquire additional skills and improve my knowledge.

10. I will maintain a valid public and professional indemnity insurance policy.
